Overview
The Triumph TR7 V8 was British Leylandβs bold attempt to return to top-level rallying in the late 1970s. Based on the wedge-shaped TR7 sports car, the rally version swapped in a potent Rover 3.5L V8 and received significant modifications to suspension, drivetrain, and bodywork for Group 4 competition. Though it arrived late in the decade and faced tough competition, the TR7 V8 still made a lasting impression with its distinctive looks, aggressive exhaust note, and surprising agility. Piloted by drivers like Tony Pond and Per Eklund, it delivered both podiums and fan appeal in the WRC and British rally scene.
