Introduced at the start of the 2011 WRC season, the Ford Fiesta RS WRC was M-Sport’s first new-generation rally car built under the then-new 1.6L turbocharged engine regulations. Replacing the larger Focus WRC, the Fiesta offered a shorter wheelbase, improved agility, and better adaptability to tight technical stages. It competed at the top level from 2011 to 2016, scoring multiple rally wins and consistent podium finishes.
The Fiesta RS WRC featured an aggressive aero package for its size, with a large rear wing, flared arches, and optimized suspension geometry to make full use of its compact footprint.
While not always dominant against the factory-backed VW effort from 2013 onward, the Fiesta RS WRC remained a podium threat and a reliable platform for both factory and customer teams.
The Fiesta RS WRC excelled in agility, particularly on twisty gravel and snow stages. It was praised for predictable handling and stability under braking, though ultimate power was slightly lower than some rivals. Its compact size allowed for aggressive corner entry and exit strategies.
