Overview
Ingvar Carlsson, born in 1947 in Sweden, was a dependable and technically gifted rally driver who found his stride in the second half of the 1980s. While never among the flashiest competitors, Carlsson gained recognition as the lead driver for Mazda during its entry into World Rally Championship competition. Known for his calm demeanor and steady hand, he played a major role in validating Mazda’s competitiveness in Group A with breakthrough wins in some of the toughest events on the calendar.
