Markku Alén, born in 1951 in Helsinki, Finland, was a relentless and passionate competitor whose career spanned over two decades at the top level of rallying. Known for his explosive driving style and fiery personality, Alén was a crowd favorite and a cornerstone of both the Fiat and Lancia factory teams. Although he never officially won a World Championship due to a controversial rule change in 1986, he held the unofficial title of "World Champion" for 11 days that year and left an indelible mark on the sport.
