Overview
Born on July 31, 1980, in Kannonkoski, Finland, Mikko Hirvonen built a reputation as one of rallying’s most consistent and reliable drivers. Making his WRC debut in 2002, he became a regular factory driver for Ford and later Citroën, frequently battling Sébastien Loeb and later Sébastien Ogier for top honors. Known for his precision and calm demeanor under pressure, Hirvonen finished runner-up in the WRC four times (2008–2012) and amassed 15 rally victories before his retirement at the end of the 2014 season. His career spanned the transition from the late-2000s Ford Focus RS WRC to the competitive 2010s era of the Fiesta RS and DS3 WRC.
