Overview
Often dubbed the “Marathon of Europe,” the 1961 Liège–Sofia–Liège Rally was among the most brutal tests of endurance rallying ever devised. With no scheduled rest stops and nearly 6,000 kilometers of mountainous and remote European roads, it forced competitors into a four-day battle of attrition against terrain, weather, and exhaustion.
