The 1970 RAC Rally was Round 7 of the International Championship for Manufacturers, featuring mostly forest stages across southern England. Held in mid-November, crews faced a mixture of gravel roads, narrow lanes, and night sections, all under changeable autumn weather.
Competitors tackled 82 special stages covering approximately 505km on forest tracks around England, interspersed with around 2100km of liaison sections. Fast gravel lanes, blind crests, and occasional tarmac sections demanded precision and concentration.
Lancia’s Fulvia Coupé HF took a decisive win, while the nimble Opel Kadett Rallye secured both second and third on its debut at the event.
