The 1974 Rally of the Rideau Lakes brought the World Rally Championship to Ontario, Canada for one of the most unpredictable events of the season. Blending forest gravel roads with early snow flurries and bitter cold, the rally was a grueling test of traction and endurance. Sandro Munari and Mario Mannucci delivered a flawless performance in the Lancia Stratos HF, conquering the demanding Canadian conditions and earning back-to-back victories late in the season.

Route

Forest Gravel Roads: Slippery and technical with varying levels of ice and frozen mud.

Based around Smiths Falls and the Rideau Lakes region of eastern Ontario, the route featured narrow gravel trails, sharp crests, and fast forest sections that became increasingly treacherous as snow began to fall mid-event.
