Returning to Mexico for the third time as a WRC round, the 2006 edition featured punishing high-altitude stages that sapped engine power and tested endurance. Sébastien Loeb, unfazed by the thin air, delivered a flawless performance for his and Kronos Racing’s second win of the year.

Route

El Cubilete: A twisting ascent with sweeping switchbacks and breathtaking views — but little margin for error on loose edges.
Ibarilla: Rocky and technical, demanding careful tire preservation over repeated passes.
Guanajuato Street Stage: A fan-favorite city center blast through historic tunnels and tight cobblestone streets.

Set in the mountains surrounding León, Rally México’s stages featured narrow, winding tracks and spectacular scenery. Notable stages included:
