Overview
François Delecour, born in 1962 in Hazebrouck, France, was one of the most aggressive and entertaining drivers of the 1990s WRC scene. Especially dominant on tarmac stages, Delecour was Ford’s lead driver during the early to mid-1990s and came close to winning the world title in 1993. His passionate, all-out approach earned him a loyal fanbase and frequent stage wins, even if consistency occasionally eluded him. After recovering from a major road accident in 1994, he returned to WRC action with determination, eventually becoming a factory driver for Peugeot by the end of the decade.
