Ford Escort Twin Cam Mk1

Overview

Introduced in 1968, the Ford Escort Twin Cam was the first major competition derivative of the first-generation Escort. Ford installed the Lotus-developed twin-cam engine in a strengthened Escort shell, producing a compact rear-wheel-drive car that quickly demonstrated the new model's rally potential.

Driving Characteristics

The Twin Cam began a competition lineage continued by the Escort RS1600 and RS1800. It helped establish the Escort name in international rallying and became a lasting favourite in historic competition.
