Peugeot 307 WRC

Overview

Debuting in 2004, the Peugeot 307 WRC represented the French manufacturer’s attempt to evolve beyond the hugely successful 206 WRC. Built on the larger 307 CC platform, it featured a longer wheelbase for greater stability, an all-new aerodynamic package, and updated suspension geometry to suit changing FIA regulations. Despite flashes of speed with Marcus Grönholm and Markko Märtin, the 307 WRC struggled for consistency and reliability compared to its predecessor.

Technical Specs & Innovations

The 307’s longer chassis aimed to improve high-speed stability, particularly on fast gravel stages.

🏆 Competitive Highlights

  • WRC event wins with Marcus Grönholm: Showed potential in the right conditions.
  • Podium finishes across surfaces: Particularly competitive on gravel.

Despite its challenges, the 307 WRC kept Peugeot competitive until its WRC program ended in 2005.

Driving Characteristics

Stable at high speed but less nimble in tight corners than the 206 WRC. Drivers often noted understeer tendencies on tarmac.
