Overview
Sandro Munari, born in 1940 in Cavarzere, Italy, was the leading Italian rally driver of the 1970s and the key figure in Lancia’s golden era. Known as “Il Drago” (The Dragon), Munari possessed a rare combination of mechanical understanding, smooth driving, and fiery determination. He rose to international prominence with a string of high-profile wins, especially in tarmac-heavy events. As the primary factory driver for Lancia, he was instrumental in developing and piloting the revolutionary Lancia Stratos HF, which became a rallying icon.
